And things got strange as time went by
I thought they had a reason but I don't know why
You got caught the way you did

And things weren't strange in times gone by
The purpose of the problem was enough to try
Beings in the way to never see the light of day
Then we went lame and we got tired
We thought we owed the others just another little while
To take a little time, and maybe take a few more lives
Along the way
Another nation based in confidence
And bathed in the light of ignorance
A last defence for common sense
To saddle up and go
We are living the dream in this scene of disorder
And loving the freedom we seek with a border
So we made some mistakes
Let's make us great again
Friendships, Relationships, Internships, Battleships, Forestry, Fisheries, Dairy, Eating Meat, Family, Humility, Military, Monetary, Humanity
It's sustainable

Signs of life that pointed you into the endless night
Were all omens of destruction
Now they think they've got the right
And I don't wanna be saved
If what they believe is just another deity away
No need to be there
If there's somewhere else that sends you to your space
They called you back into the cage
It's a wonder that they let you out this way
An "Ideology phase"
At least that's what they said it would be
Another wanting to be
As alive as all the others
And the peace they'd achieved
And why couldn't you be
There to step up and take the place
Of those who before you died?

And if there was "Safe"
And if there was any kind
Of loving fairness in this awful state
They'd only want to dismantle hopeful objects
With mechanics gained from hate

Give up leaving all the wonderful times
I'd slithered and had had submerged
Beneath the slime
